Day
1 - Arrive Vienna (3 nights)
On arrival at Vienna airport you are met and transferred to your
hotel. After check-in there's time to relax and unwind before
meeting your Tour Director and fellow travelling companions for a
welcome drink. This evening, why not try some delicious schnitzel
and strudel for a truly Austrian dinner?

Day
2 - Vienna sightseeing & at leisure
Our morning sightseeing tour with a local guide features the
monuments and palaces of this musical city. The Imperial Boulevards
lead us to the Opera House, the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament and
St. Stephen's Cathedral. Later, free time perhaps to indulge in some
Sachertorte and cream in a tempting pastry shop. Or why not take an
excursion to Maria Theresa von Hapsburg's favourite palace – the
Schönbrunn, with its delightful fountains and gardens? This
evening, perhaps treat yourself to a concert of Viennese Classical
music. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day
3 - Vienna Woods Excursion
Our local expert takes us on a scenic drive into the nearby Vienna
Woods where we stop to see Mayerling, and the hunting lodge where
Crown Prince Rudolph and his young mistress died in 1898. We also
stop at Heiligenkreuz to visit the Abbey of the Holy Cross. Then
there's time at leisure, perhaps to window-shop in Kärtnerstrasse
or visit a museum. Tonight, we enjoy a delicious dinner of Viennese
specialities in a wine village Heurige. (Buffet Breafast /
Highlight Dinner)

Day
4 - Vienna – Salzkammergut – Salzburg (2 nights)
We drive along the Valley of the River Danube past Melk, where we
see Austria's greatest baroque monastery. From here we continue
along the Danube Valley to the area known as the Salzkammergut. At
Gmunden, with its beautiful Lake Château, we enjoy a tranquil and
scenic drive along the shores of the Traunsee and Attersee, the
largest lake in the Austrian Alps, to the Mondsee Lake. We stop in
the village to see the Church where the marriage of Captain Von
Trapp and Maria was filmed for "The Sound of Music".
Finally we reach the sugar-icing city of Salzburg for two nights.

Day
5 - Salzburg sightseeing & at leisure
Today's morning sightseeing on foot with a local guide shows us the
Getreidergasse with it's colourful shops, the majestic Cathedral and
many of the locations used in the film, "The Sound of
Music", as well as the birthplace of the great composer,
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Later, you may wish to relax in one of the
delightful coffee-houses or to shop in the chic boutiques. We will
enjoy dinner at our hotel this evening. (Buffet Breakfast /
Dinner)

6 - Salzburg – Berchtesgaden – Innsbruck
This morning after breakfast it's only a short drive into Bavarian
Germany and to the National Park of Berchtesgaden – Hitler's
favourite summer resort. We'll stop in the town before leaving
Germany to re-enter Austria and the province of the Tyrol. From here
we continue past the Wilder Kaiser Mountains to the valley of the
green River Inn, bringing us to the Alpine resort which grew up
around the bridge over the Inn, Innsbruck. Here our orientation tour
shows us the Wilten Basilica, as well as the Olympic ski-jump and
the old town with its Golden Roof and Hofburg Palace. This evening,
after dinner at our hotel, why not take part in some thigh-slapping
fun at a Tyrolean Folklore show? (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day
7 - Innsbruck – Neuschwanstein Castle – Oberammergau – Munich
(2 nights)
This morning after breakfast, we will return to the Bavarian
mountains and Germany's most famous building, mad King Ludwig's
Neuschwanstein Castle. We go up to the castle by horse and carriage
and then enjoy a guided tour of its interior. Afterwards, it is only
a short drive to the Passion Play village of Oberammergau. Here
there is time to admire the many ornate wall-paintings on the
village houses and to perhaps visit the Passion Play theatre before
we arrive at fun-loving Munich. Tonight, why not get together with
your fellow travelling companions and enjoy a few steins of beer in
one of the many beer-halls? (Buffet Breakfast)

Day
8 - Munich orientation & at leisure
After breakfast we head out on our morning orientation tour which
will show us the Hofbräuhaus, the Marienplatz with its
Glockenspiel, and the majestic Opera house. Then time at leisure to
do some shopping and perhaps to visit some of the museums. Dinner
this evening is a Bavarian supper in a typical tavern. (Buffet
Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

Day
9 - Depart Munich
There's time to bid farewell to new-found friends as we transfer you
to Munich Airport for your return flight home, at the end of this
finely tuned tour. (Buffet Breakfast)
*During the soccer world cup in Germany an alternative hotel may be
substituted.

Airport
Transfers
- London Gateways:
Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and
central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your
transfers to and from the airport are included. It's that
simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your
airport and Central London.
- Important – Please Note: Passengers
will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports
providing the following conditions are met:
- You are staying at a London hotel,
booked by Trafalgar, on the night of your arrival and the night
prior to the date of your departure.
- Flights are either booked by
Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your
Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
- Only one included transfer both
inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar.
Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.
- Heathrow Express operates between
05.10-23.30. Gatwick Express operates inbound services between
05.20-23.45 and outbound services from 04.30-23.45. Transfers
outside of these times are at the passengers own expense.
- In the event of unforeseen events
(road or rail works, demonstrations, strikes) Trafalgar will not
be held responsible for delayed or cancelled transfers.
- No refund is available for
passengers not utilising this service.

We enjoy a guided visit to the Palace of Schönbrunn, with its
magnificently preserved state rooms and exquisite gardens. From the
summer residence of the Hapsburg monarchs, we continue to either the
Imperial Treasures, the Vienna Opera House or the Crypts and Vaults
of the Imperial family for a guided tour.

- VIENNA. Hungarian Gypsy Dinner and Schnapps Museum or Prater Wheel
First we visit the cheerful Prater Park to take a gentle ride on the

First we visit the home in which Mozart was born and where he spent

fortress battlements. A light lunch will be served in the castle

with Big Wheel
This evening begins with a visit to the Fischer Family Distillery.
Before tasting a variety of their famous spirits and liqueurs, we
will be shown around the historic premises, often used as a location
by local film makers because of its authentic period equipment and
old world charm. A short drive then takes us to the edge of the
Vienna Woods for dinner in one of the traditional ‘Heurigen’ or
wine taverns. Here a meal of delicious Austrian specialities will be
served to us while local musicians entertain us with their ‘Schrammelmusik’.
Wine included. (On certain departures, a visit to the Prater Park
featuring a ride on the famous Big Wheel used in the film, 'The
Third Man', will replace the distillery visit.)

- MUNICH. Nymphenburg Palace Tour
We head for the outskirts of the city to visit the 320-year old
Nymphenburg Palace - an excellent example of the popular baroque and
rococo architecture of Bavaria. This fine complex of opulent

includes the masterpieces of courtly rococco, the Schloss
Amalienburg with its stupendous Hall of Mirrors, as well as
collections of fine paintings and sculpture.
