ITINERARY

 
European Spree
Day 1 - Arrive Frankfurt (Raunheim)
On arrival at Frankfurt Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon we enjoy an orientation tour of Germany's financial center. This evening, before dinner at our hotel, we will have a welcome drink with our Tour Director and fellow companions. (Dinner)

Day 2 - Frankfurt (Raunheim) - Rotheburg - Munich - Innsbruck
After breakfast this morning, our first stop is at medieval Rothenburg. Here an orientation reveals this Hansel and Gretel style town before time to explore and maybe shop for wooden Christmas ornaments. Next on to fun-loving Munich where an orientation tour shows us the Olympic Stadium, Hofbraühaus and Marienplatz. Then our journey takes us into Austria arriving at our hotel in Innsbruck. Tonight, we will enjoy a dinner of Tyrolean specialities in a local restaurant.

Day 3 - Innsbruck - Venice (Main.)
Today's orientation tour of this mountain-ringed city shows us the 'Golden Roof' and the Wilten Basilica beneath the Olympic ski-jump. Next we enjoy a spiralling drive up and across the Europa Bridge to the Brenner Pass into Italy. Later, we continue our journey through the Dolomites to magical Venice where we spend the night. This evening, dinner is included at our hotel. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 4 - Venice (Main.) - Florence
This morning we wiil savour the sights and sounds of this Byzantine city on our included canal cruise by private launch to St. Mark's Square. Here we view the Bridge of Sighs, Doges' Palace and St. Mark's Basilica before witnessing the ancient craft of Venetian glass-blowing. Later, we make our way to Renaissance Florence where a guided sightseeing tour on foot using our sophisticated audio system, features the Cathedral, Signoria Square and visits the Santa Croce Basilica. Dinner is served at our hotel this evening. (Buffet breakfast/ Dinner)

Day 5 - Florence - Lucerne (2 nights)
After breakfast this morning, there's time for shopping for bargains in quality leather and gold jewellery. Then we drive off towards the Alps, the Italian and Swiss Lake Districts via Lugano and the St. Gotthard route as we make our way to picturesque lakeside Lucerne for two nights. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 6 - Lucerne orientation & leisure
An orientation in this medieval town includes a visit to the Lion Monument and a stroll across the Chapel Bridge to the Jesuit Church. At leisure, why not take a trip by cable car and cog railway up nearby Mount Pilatus for stunning Alpine views? Then there is time to wander through the streets of the Old Town and shop for Swiss watches and delicious chocolates. This evening, after dinner at the hotel, perhaps enjoy an optional floklore night out of yodelling and flag-throwing! (Buffet breakfast/ Dinner)

 

Day 7 - Lake Lucerne - Paris (2 nights)
This morning after breakfast, we head to the French border past Belfort and the remains of the Maginot Line. From here our journey continue into wine-producing Burgundy, to view the Savigny-Les-Beaune vineyards before arriving in lively Paris. Your evening is free to do as you please. Perhaps wander round Montmartre and dine in one of the bistros that surround the artists square. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 8 - Paris sightseeing & at leisure
Enjoy views of the flying buttresses of Notre Dame Cathedral and other great monuments on our guided sightseeing tour this morning. We will see all the great sites of this exciting city including the Arc de Triomphe, the Place de la Concorde and the Champs Elysees. We will also ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower by elevator, for spectacular views over this superbly designed city. This evening why not enjoy one of Paris' great cabaret show? (Buffet breakfast)

 

Day 9 - Paris - London
'Au revoir', as we drive north across World War I Battlefields where we see the Canadian War Memorial at Vimy Ridge. From here we continue to Calais where we board the ferry for our short sea crossing to the White Cliffs of Dover, then on by coach back to London. (Buffet breakfast)

Airport Transfers
  • London Gateways: Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It's that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.
  • Important – Please Note: Passengers will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports providing the following conditions are met:
  • You are staying at a London hotel, booked by Trafalgar, on the night of your arrival and the night prior to the date of your departure.
  • Flights are either booked by Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
  • Only one included transfer both inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar. Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.
  • Heathrow Express operates between 05.10-23.30. Gatwick Express operates inbound services between 05.20-23.45 and outbound services from 04.30-23.45. Transfers outside of these times are at the passengers own expense.

Enjoy the breathtaking views from the top before we see the spot where the Tyrolean Freedom fighters, led by Andreas Hofer, beat Napoleon’s troops into retreat.

We start with a conducted tour, enhanced by our excellent audio system, of one of the finest Art galleries in the world – the Louvre.
