ITINERARY

 
Best of Switzerland
Day 1 - Arrive Zurich
On arrival at Zurich airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, we delight in a late afternoon sightseeing tour of this lakeside city revealing its charm and beauty. This evening, we enjoy a welcome drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

Day 2 - Zurich – Liechtenstein – St. Moritz
After breakfast, snow-capped mountains and sparkling lakes surround us as we drive to the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein where we visit its capital, Vaduz. From here we continue our journey via the spectacular ski-resort of Davos and make our way up to the Fluela Pass (when open), and past picturesque Susch to our overnight hotel in St. Moritz. This evening, dinner is at our hotel (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 3 - St. Moritz – Italian Lakes (Baveno)
We ascend the Julier Pass and along the San Bernadino Route to Bellinzona. Then we continue our journey to the Italian Lakes via Locarno to pretty Stresa for time at leisure or perhaps to shop for Italian souvenirs. Later, we check in at our hotel in Baveno from where you may wish to take a cruise to visit the picturesque Isola Bella. Dinner will be served at our hotel tonight. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 4 - Italian Lakes (Baveno) – Zermatt
We drive towards the majestic Simplon Pass, 6,600 feet high. Later, we arrive at Tasch where we board the electric mini-buses and taxis which take us up to the picturesque village of Zermatt, still a traditonal Swiss village of wooden chalets and window boxes. Here there's time at leisure in the serenity and crisp alpine air of this Alpine haven, so why not take a mountain ride for fantastic views of the Matterhorn? This evening, we will enjoy dinner at our hotel.

Day 5 - Zermatt – Montreux – Geneva
Our day begins with a drive through the Rhône Valley to Lake Geneva where we view Byron's Castle of Chillon. From here we will continue to Montreux and see the major sights. Next our journey takes us via Lausanne to the cosmopolitan city of Geneva for the night. On our arrival we enjoy an orientation tour highlighting the Reformation Monument, United Nations' Building and the Jet d'Eau Fountain. Tonight, why not enjoy an exciting and special dinner out with your travelling companions? (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 6 - Geneva – Berne – Interlaken – Brienz – Lucerne (2 nights)
This morning time to shop before we head off over the Brünig Pass on our approach to lakeside Lucerne in its beautiful setting for two relaxing nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 7 - Lucerne orientation & at leisure
After breakfast we enjoy an orientation tour around this medieval city highlighting the Lion Monument, built in memory of Louis XVI's Swiss Guard, and Chapel Bridge. Later with time on your own, you may wish to take an optional excursion to a nearby mountain peak, famed for its splendid views. Or perhaps join in the fun of a Swiss folklore show, or simply choose to explore the old city and shop for Swiss watches, cuckoo clocks and delicious Swiss chocolates. Dinner is included at our hotel this evening. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

 

Day 8 - Lucerne – Depart Zurich
This morning time to bid farewell to Switzerland and new-found friends as we transfer you to Zurich Airport for your return flight home. (Buffet Breakfast) Please do not schedule any flights before 10.30am.

Airport Transfers
  • London Gateways: Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It's that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.
  • Important – Please Note: Passengers will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports providing the following conditions are met:
  • You are staying at a London hotel, booked by Trafalgar, on the night of your arrival and the night prior to the date of your departure.
  • Flights are either booked by Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
  • Only one included transfer both inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar. Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.

CH2 - LUCERNE. Swiss Experience
Enjoy an unforgettable trip along the lake to nearby mountain slopes, and ascend by cog-wheel railway and cable car to spectacular alpine views. The mountain air will whet your appetite for a delicious lunch with drink included (one of the courses will be a cheese fondue), in one of Switzerland’s most atmospheric restaurants. Yodelling and alpine horns will contribute to your enjoyment of the accompanying traditional folklore show. (On certain departures the ascent as well as the descent of the mountain will be by cable car only).

CH4 - LAKE GENEVA. Cruise & visit to Yvoire
Leaving the elegant guays of Geneva, our steamer cruises past the palatial mansions of the rich and famous, stopping at picturesque villages before arriving at our enchanting French destination - Yvoire. We explore its winding streets, lined with the old stone houses of former fishermen and dominated by the ancient ‘château’ of the Count and Countess. Then our motorcoach takes us through the rich fields of the Savoy back into Switzerland.

CH5 - LAKE GENEVA. Mount Salève tour with Lunch/Dinner
Leaving Geneva for the French Alps we ascend the Salève mountain by cable-car for breathtaking views of city, lake and the highest mountain peaks. Our Savoyarde restaurant, perched on the limestone ridge, affords a memorable experience of French regional cuisine. Nearby walks will give you the opportunity to enjoy the alpine flora and views of Mont Blanc.

CH11 - LUCERNE. Mount Pilatus
A scenic lakeshore drive brings us to our cog-wheel railway, where we board our train to the summit of Lucerne’s most well-known mountain. Here you have time to explore, admire the many sweeping views and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Later a series of cable cars will bring us gradually down through fields and forests to the foot of this majestic mountain. (On certain departures the ascent as well as the descent of the mountain will be by cable car only)

CH22 - ZERMATT. Klein Matterhorn Excursion
A unique electric taxi service will drive us to the foot of Zermatt's highest and most spectacular mountain ride. Enjoy stunning views as we ascend to Furi and Trockener steg before boarding Europe's highest cable car to arrive on the snow-capped top of the world at 12,400 feet. A magnificent panorama of the highest peaks in Switzerland, Italy and France will make this an unforgettable experience.
