Day
1 - Arrive Frankfurt
On arrival at Frankfurt airport you are met and transferred to your
hotel. This afternoon, we enjoy an orientation tour of the city's
financial centre and medieval Römerplatz, followed by a welcome
drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions. This
evening, dinner will be at our hotel. (Dinner)

Day
2 - Frankfurt – Rhine Cruise – Cologne
A morning drive brings us to St. Goar where we embark on a relaxing
Rhine Cruise. We disembark in Boppard, and rejoin our coach as we
drive past Bonn, Beethoven's birthplace. Then we continue our
journey to Cologne to see its gothic Cathedral, before dinner at our
hotel tonight. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

3 - Cologne – Hamburg
After breakfast this morning we drive into Lower Saxony en route to
our hotel at Hamburg for the night. On our arrival why not enjoy a
cruise on the harbour? Later, an orientation tour of the city shows
us the major points of interest including the inner Alster Lake.
Dinner will be served at our hotel tonight. (Buffet Breakfast /
Dinner)

4 - Hamburg – Berlin (2 nights)
This morning we leave Hamburg to travel on the 'autobahn' following
the valley of the River Elbe crossing the former 'Iron Curtain' to
the historic city of Berlin for our two-night stay. (Buffet
Breakfast)

5 - Berlin sightseeing & at leisure
Today highlights of East and West are featured on our sightseeing
tour including the Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden Boulevard,
German State Opera House, Reichstag Building, Tiergarten and the
shopping and entertainment district of Kurfürstendamm. The rest of
your day is at leisure to explore further. (Buffet Breakfast)

6 - Berlin – Dresden
Our journey today brings us to Dresden – known as 'Florence on the
Elbe'. On our arrival an orientation tour shows us highlights of
this astonishing Renaissance city including the Opera House and
Zwinger Palace. Later, why not take an excursion into the Elbe
Valley to visit the Bastei Belvedere? (Buffet Breakfast /
Dinner)

7 - Dresden – Modlareuth – Bayreuth – Nuremberg
Our first stop this morning is at Modlareuth, which the Americans
called, 'Little Berlin' – the ideal destination for people who
wish to experience recent German history. Here we will visit the
open-air museum, which includes watching a film on this unique
village as well as, experiencing its towers and fortifications. From
here we continue our journey to Bayreuth where we see the Wagner
Festival Theatre. Next it's only a short drive to Nuremberg, once
one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. On our arrival an
orientation tour will show us the mighty ramparts, bustling market
place and St. Sebald's Cathedral. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

8 - Nuremberg – Rothenburg – Munich (2 nights)
Today after breakfast we drive to the 'chocolate-box' town of
Rothenburg. Here an orientation tour reveals half timbered houses
and the Old Town Hall with time to shop for wooden Christmas
ornaments. Next we drive along the Romantic Road to the lively
Bavarian capital, Munich for the night. This evening, why not visit
the Hofbräuhaus, the world's most famous beer hall? (BB)

Day
9 - Munich orientation & at leisure
After breakfast, we enjoy an orientation tour which highlights the
Olympic Stadium, Ludwigstrasse and Marienplatz with its famous
Glockenspiel Carillon. Later, there's time at leisure. You may wish
to visit some of the city's fine museums or take an optional
excursion to the Nymphenburg Palace. This evening, we will enjoy
dinner in a specially selected restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast /
Highlight Dinner)

10 - Munich – Dachau – Oberammergau – Black Forest (Breitnau)
This morning, we drive to Dachau village where we visit the sinister
concentration camp for sobering reminders of the horrors of World
War II. From here our ascent into the Bavarian Alps brings us to the
famous Passion Play village of Oberammergau. Next we will continue
on to view Neuschwanstein, mad King Ludwig's fairytale castle. Then
the scenery of our drive along the Bavarian pre-alpine range is
enough to take your breath away! Finally, we arrive in the hills of
the Black Forest to stop at Lake Titisee, famous for its cuckoo
clocks. Tonight, we dine at our picturesque hotel in the heart of
this beautiful region. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

11 - Black Forest (Breitnau) – Heidelberg – Frankfurt
Today's scenic drive brings us to the elegant city of Baden-Baden,
famous for its spa and casino. Then on to the 'Student Prince' city
of Heidelberg with its dominant castle. From here, it's only a short
trip on the autobahn as we journey back to Frankfurt for the final
night of our German extravaganza. Why not enjoy a farewell dinner
with your fellow companions? (Buffet Breakfast)

12 - Depart Frankfurt
This morning after breakfast there's time to bid farewell to

Airport
Transfers
- London Gateways:
Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and
central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your
transfers to and from the airport are included. It's that
simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your
airport and Central London.
- Important – Please Note: Passengers
will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports
providing the following conditions are met:
- You are staying at a London hotel,
booked by Trafalgar, on the night of your arrival and the night
prior to the date of your departure.
- Flights are either booked by
Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your
Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
- Only one included transfer both
inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar.
Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.
- Heathrow Express operates between
05.10-23.30. Gatwick Express operates inbound services between
05.20-23.45 and outbound services from 04.30-23.45. Transfers
outside of these times are at the passengers own expense.
- In the event of unforeseen events
(road or rail works, demonstrations, strikes) Trafalgar will not
be held responsible for delayed or cancelled transfers.
- No refund is available for
passengers not utilising this service.

- MUNICH. Nymphenburg Palace Tour
We head for the outskirts of the city to visit the 320-year old
Nymphenburg Palace - an excellent example of the popular baroque and
rococo architecture of Bavaria. This fine complex of opulent
buildings, set in an extensive and beautifully laid out park,
includes the masterpieces of courtly rococco, the Schloss
Amalienburg with its stupendous Hall of Mirrors, as well as
collections of fine paintings and sculpture.

- BERLIN. Berlin’s Secret Past and Potsdam
We stop at Checkpoint Charlie, crossing to the former East Berlin,
where the city unravels its secret past. Here we visit the Escape
Museum, where we learn of the many varied attempts and successes of
the crossing of the Berlin Wall. Finally, we see the spot where
Hitler’s Bunker once stood and marvel at the Wall of Freedom. Then
we drive to the former abode of Prussia’s Frederick the Great, an
imposing edifice of baroque splendour, to explore its delightful
gardens and see the crypt of the Great Emperor. On to see ‘Cecelienhof’,
which witnessed the signing of a treaty which was to change the face
of post-war Europe. (On Mondays when Cecelienhof is closed, we visit
the interior of the Neue Palais).

- HAMBURG. Harbour Cruise, the ‘Reeperbahn’ & St.
Michael’s Church
Relax on a guided cruise around one of the largest ports in Europe,
sixty-eight miles from the sea. Enjoy refreshments whilst admiring
the floating dry docks, tugs and ocean-going vessels. A short drive
takes us to the notorious ‘Reeperbahn’ district. We visit one of
Germany’s most beautiful protestant churches and we enter the
outer Alster district, to see the stately homes of Hamburg’s
millionaires.

This evening we drive to the banks of the legendary river Rhine and
to the charming wine-village of Rudesheim with its halftimbered

‘Rudesheimer Schloss’ where an evening of hearty German food,
delicious wine and typical Rhineland entertainment awaits us!

We see the famous porcelain collection in the Zwinger palace or the
Green Vault in the Zwinger Palace and then drive to nearby Schloss

Strong’. Here our local guide takes us through the richly
decorated rooms of the palace so picturesquely located on a man-made
island in the River Elbe. Time for a stroll on the island before
enjoying cake and refreshments. Then we return to our Dresden hotel.

A drive thorough picturesque alpine countryside to the icing sugar
city of Salzburg – home of the Sound of Music, Mozart and

with a local guide, visiting the Getreidegasse, the Cathedral and
beautiful squares and arcades of this fairy-tale like city. We

A scenic drive takes us to the green outskirts of the city, which
were used at the Royal Hunting grounds in centuries past. Today it
is an exclusive residential district and it is here that we find our

atmospheric dinner of German specialities. We are able to admire the
illuminations of this vibrant city on our way back to our hotel.
