ITINERARY

 
The Alpine Favourite
Day 1 - Arrive Frankfurt (Moerfelden)
On arrival at Frankfurt airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, we will enjoy an orientation tour of Germany's financial centre. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

Day 2 - Frankfurt (Moerfelden) - Freiburg
Today we head off to the Rhine Valley for our relaxing cruise past castles and terraced vineyards. Then on to the University town of Heidelberg on our way to Baden-Baden, the famous spa resort in the Black Forest, before arriving at our hotel for dinner. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

Day 3 - Freiburg - Engelberg (2 nights)
Our first stop this morning is by Lake Titisee, before we continue on our scenic journey to the Swiss border, stopping to view the Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen. From here, we drive via Zurich to the Alpine resort of Engelberg for our two-night stay. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

Day 4 - Lucerne Excursion
After breakfast we set off on a short drive which brings us to beautiful lakeside Lucerne. Here an orientation tour of this picturesque town includes the Lion Monument and medieval Old Town. Then there's time at leisure perhaps to ascend a nearby mountain, before we return to Engelberg for dinner and overnight stay. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

 
Day 5 - Engelberg - Interlaken - Geneva
We enjoy a whole day of magical scenery as we drive over the Brünig Pass to Lake Brienz and Interlaken, with views of the mighty Jungfrau. Then we continue via Berne to the Lake of Geneva where we spend the night in the city of the same name. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

Day 6 - Geneva - Zermatt (2 nights)
An orientation tour of the city of Geneva this morning shows us the Jet d'Eau, the United Nations' building and Reformation Monument. After we briefly cross into France, with views of Mont Blanc, before making our way to our hotel in Zermatt. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

Day 7 - Zermatt at leisure
Today we ascend by electric mini-buses and taxis to the mountain haven of Zermatt where you may wish to take a ride on the Gornergrat railway. We spend the night in Zermatt. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

 
Day 8 - Zermatt - St. Moritz
Today we travel via the Simplon Pass into Italy. Then we continue along the shores of Lake Maggiore to visit the beautiful resort of Stresa. From here we re-enter Switzerland and continue through the San Bernadino Pass to St. Moritz for dinner and overnight. (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

Day 9 - St. Moritz - Innsbruck (Igls)
This morning we enjoy a leisurely day in St. Moritz. Later, we continue into the Austrian Tyrol arriving at mountain-ringed Innsbruck. Here an orientation tour features the main sights. This evening, why not enjoy a Tyrolean Folklore show? (Continental breakfast / Dinner)

Day 10 - Innsbruck (Igls) - Vienna (2 nights)
After breakfast we re-enter Germany to visit Berchtesgaden, Hitler's favourite holiday resort in the Bavarian Alps. Next, we continue on through Austrian countryside to our hotel in the Imperial city of Vienna where we spend the next two nights. (Continental breakfast)

Day 11 - Vienna sightseeing & at leisure
Today's morning sightseeing tour shows us the Opera, Parliament and the Hofburg. Then there's time at leisure, so why not relax in a typical coffee house and indulge in some delicious Viennese pastries? (Continental breakfast)

 
Day 12 - Vienna - Salzburg
This morning we dirve through the beautiful Danube Valley seeing the Abbey of Melk and Durnstein Castle en route to Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace and sceneof "The Sound of Music". On our arrival, we enjoy an orientation tour of this delightful town.

Day 13 - Salzburg - Munich
A morning drive takes us to Bavaria, via the Chiemsee Lake on our way to fun-loving Munich. On our arrival we enjoy an orientation tour highlighting the Marienplatz and Olympic Stadium. Tonight,
maybe take an excursion to a typical Bavarian Beer Hall. (Continental breakfast )

Day 14 - Munich - Frankfurt (Moerfelden)
Our day starts with a scenic drive along the Romantic Road to charming Rothenburg. Here there's
time to explore this medieval city before we continue our journey via Würzburg to Frankfurt for the final evening of our tour. (Continental breakfast )

Day 15 - Frankfurt (Moerfelden)

From the summer residence of the Hapsburg monarchs, we continue to either the Imperial Treasures, the Vienna Opera House or the Crypts and Vaults of the Imperial family for a guided tour.

A2 - VIENNA. Vienna Woods Excursion with Dinner in Gumpoldskirchen
No visit to Vienna would be complete without an excursion into the heart of the Vienna Woods! A scenic trip through lush, vine-clad slopes takes us to Mayerling, scene of the tragic death of Crown Prince Rudolph and his beloved young mistress. A16 - SALZBURG. Hohensalzburg, Mozart’s House and Lunch
First we visit the home in which Mozart was born and where he spent the early part of his life – a quaint little house in the heart of the old city. A24 - VIENNA. Wine Village Dinner and Schnapps Museum or Prater Park with Big Wheel
This evening begins with a visit to the Fischer Family Distillery. Before tasting a variety of their famous spirits and liqueurs, we will be shown around the historic premises, often used as a location by local film makers because of its authentic period equipment and old world charm. A short drive then takes us to the edge of the Vienna Woods for dinner in one of the traditional ‘Heurigen’ or wine taverns. Here a meal of delicious Austrian specialities will be served to us while local musicians entertain us with their ‘Schrammelmusik’. Wine included. (On certain departures, a visit to the Prater Park featuring a ride on the famous Big Wheel used in the film, 'The Third Man', will replace the distillery visit.)

A40 - VIENNA. Drive through the Vienna Woods & ride on the Prater Wheel with a light supper
First we drive up to the top of the Kahlenberg hill in the Vienna Woods to admire the magnificent views over this Imperial city from the Leopoldsberg look-out point. We continue back into Vienna and cross the Danube to enter Europe’s most famous fairground…the Prater Park with its giant Ferris wheel, made famous by Hitchcock’s ‘The Third Man’ and more recently by the James Bond film ‘The Living Daylights’. After an included ride on the Wheel, we will enjoy a light supper in one of the cafés in the park and have time to enjoy some of the other fairground attractions.
