Day 01: Singapore - Bagdogra - Transfer to Kalimpong
Met
on arrival and transfer to
Kalimpong (3hrs)
Check-in to
hotel. Evening at leisure.

Day 02: Kalimpong - Gangtok (Breakfast)
After
breakfast, depart for Gangtok
at 08.30am.
Enroute visit to Durpin Dara view point &
Monastery & Deolo.
Durpin Dara -
Towering over the town of Kalimpong is the Durpin Dara
at an altitude of 1402m which offers breathtaking view.
From this view point at Durpin which in fact means
"binoculars" the whole Chola Range of Sikkim can be seen
including the Jelep La Pass. On the northwest horizon
can be seen the panoramic view of Kanchenjunga Range. On
the southern horizon looms the Tiger Hill and betweeen
the gap in the Teesta Valley can be seen the rolling
plains of West Bengal. Far down below, the river Relli
and Ryang meet the mighty Teesta near the Rambhi Bazaar
area.
Deolo View Point -
At 1914m, commands an excellent view of the town, the
Teesta Valley below and the snowy ranges in the distant
horizon. |
Day 03: Gangtok (Breakfast)
After
breakfast, depart for
local
sightseeing at 08.30am,
covering flower show, handicraft centre & Rumtek
Monastery.
Flower Show - The
flower show venue is located near the White Hall below
Mintokong. Exhibition are held during flower blooming
seasons with the Spring Orchid Festivals being the
grandest show among all.
Rumtek Monastery -
Also known as the Dharma Chakra Center, the monastery is
situated on a hill opposite Gangtok at a distance of
24km, a 45 minutes drive. Built as a replica of the
original Karmapa monastery in Tsurpu, Tibet, this
monastery replaced the seat of Kagyupa sect from 1959
when the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa came into exile. |
Day 04:
Gangtok -
Pelling
(Breakfast)
After
breakfast, depart for Pelling
at 9am. Evening at leisure.
Pelling - Till a few
year back, Pelling was an insignificant roadside hamlet
on the highway tri-junction 1km beyond Pemayangtse but
with the popularity of tourism in West Sikkim and the
demand for more hotel rooms, this quiet ridge-top
settlement is rapidly evolving into a boomtown. This is
the likeliest spot where you as a tourist will spend at
least one night on your sojourn to Sikkim, and with no
regret. The views are superb and the natural forest
nearby has some excellent trails for short hikes leading
to the surrounding religious and historical sites. |
Day 05: Pelling
(Breakfast)
After
breakfast
at 08.30am, depart for local sightseeing covering
Pemayangtse
Monastery, Khachoedperi
Lake, Khangchengzonga Waterfalls & Rimbi Waterfalls.
Pemayangtse
Monastery is special because it is meant only
for 'ta sang' lamas (pure monks). Believed to have been
conceptualized and designed by the pioneer of Buddhism
in Sikkim, Lhatsun Chhembo,
Pemayangtse
soon became the nuclei of
Monasteries in Sikim.
Khachoedperi Lake is
considered as one of the sacred lakes of Sikkim by
the Hindus and Buddhists. The lake remains hidden in the
forests. It is believed that birds do not permit even a
single leaf to float on the lake surface. |
Day 06: Pelling
- Darjeeling
(Breakfast)
After
breakfast, depart for
Darjeeling at
9am. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 07:
Darjeeling
(Breakfast)
Early
morning depart at 08.30am for viewing sunrise from Tiger
Hill and on the way back visit Batasia Loop & Ghoom
Monastery. After
breakfast at 09.30am, depart for local sightseeing
covering Himalayan mountaineering Institute, Padmj Naidu
Zoological Garden, Snow Leopard breeding Centre, Rock
climbing complex, tea garden, Tibetan refugee self-help
centre and ropeway.
Tiger Hill: is the highest point in the area
which provides the most exotic view of the Kanchenjunga
peaks. From this place, the other peaks of the Eastern
Himalayas can be seen. On a clear day, the sight of Mt.
Everest is just enthralling.
Batasia Loop: a
railway loop, is the interesting example of engineering.
At this loop, the toy train takes a very unique turn.
This loop is just five kilometer from the main town of
Darjeeling. This place also has a very good market which
sell purses, bags and other decorative items made by
local woman at very reasonable prices.
Ghoom Gompa: is
about eight kilometers from Darjeeling. Here a very
beautiful status of the Maitrayie Buddha (prospective
Buddha) is established. The monastery has also preserved
some of the rare handwritten Buddhist Manuscripts.
Himalayan Mountaineering:
is on the West Jawahar road. The institute runs courses
for training mountaineers as well as has the very good
collection of mountaineering equipments which had used
in various mountaineering expeditions & otherwise.
Specimens of Himalayan flora & fauna are also kept here.
Zoological Garden:
is situated two kilometer from the main town. This
zoological garden, houses some of the rare species of
animals and birds. Only this zoo in India having the
Siberian Tigers & rare Red Panda. The Snow Leopards,
Great Grey Birds, Snow Yarks are some of the animals
which attracting tourist in great numbers. Entry to the
zoo is by tickets which are valid for the natural
history museum & the mountaineering institutes & museum.
Snow Leopard Breeding Programme
- Nowadays the zoologist and the
environmental scientists are trying to protect the
endangered species by breeding them in captivity. The
snow leopard are not known to have breed in captivity
but in this centre thanks to the efforts of Kiran Maktan,
theses animals have gave birth in captivity. Snow
Leopards are animals who have to be kept in large
enclosure. Visitors are allowed in the centre but they
have to watch the animals in utter silence.
Tea Garden -
Darjeeling grows the world famous tea. The exotic tea
produced here is known as the Champagne of Teas. There
are about 86 tea estates in Darjeeling which produces 10
million kg tea every year.
Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre was
established in 1959, a centre for the refugee who had
fled Tibet with the Dalai Lama after Chinese invasion.
This self-help centre has been developed as workshop for
the manufacture of handicrafts. the fine and superb
carpets, woolens, woodcarving and leatherwork from this
centre has been very popular among the tourists.
Ropeway: is another
tourist attraction in Darjeeling. This is the first
ropeway in India. It connects the North point (7000
feet) to the Singla Bazaar (800 feet). The rope covers a
distance of 8kms in 45 minutes. The ropeway is exciting
and unique for anyone visiting Darjeeling.
