Day 01: Singapore - Jaipur
(Dinner)
Transfer from airport to hotel by non-a/c car.
Afternoon tour of the city, Hawa Mahal, City Palce,
Observatory & Bazaars.
Hawa Mahal - The
Hawa Mahal, or the Palace of Winds, is arguably
Jaiphur's best known monument. For one, it is unlike any
other Rajput monument - fort, palace or temple.
Secondly, it's a bit too whimsical and delicate, almost
like a magical structure from Arabian Nights. Despite
its towering height and length, the Hawa Mahal looks a
light, airy structure which might be blow away with the
slightest wind. Placed right in the middle of the
bursting Johari Bazaar, near the Badi Chaupad (the big
square), this reddish-pink building made of red
sandstone is a constant reminder of Jaipur's colourful
history which refuses to just curl up and die.
City Palace -
Occupying the centre of Jaipur, the city palace covers
one seventh of city area and the plan of the palace is
exactly similar to the plan of the city. The palace has
a high wall or the sarahad that surrounds it on all
sides. It is a bit confusing to find the main entrance
to the palace and can only be arrived at after going
through various bazaars (Sireh Deori), past the Town
Hill (Vidhan Sabha), passing through the arches of Sireh
Deori (boundary gate) also known as the Udai Pol, Naqqar
Darwaza (drum gate), the Vijai Pol, Jai Pol, Ganpati Pol
and via the Jaleb Chowk.
Overnight: Standard Room at Narain Niwas Palace or
similar. |
Day 02: Jaipur
(Breakfast,
Lunch OR Dinner)
Half day sightseeing of Amber Fort. Afternoon
free at leisure.
Amber Fort - The
sprawling Amber Fort is a typical example of what the
lives of our gallent Rajputs were alike - militant,
adventurous, temperamental and also self-indulgent. It
is among the best hilltop forts in India. Within the
stern exteriors that seem to grow out of the rugged
hills are mighty gates, temples, huge ornate halls,
palaces, pavilions, gardens and even a ramp to take you
to the hilltop palace! and guess who climb up the ramp?
Elephants. Yes, beautifully - caparisoned elephants go
up and down carrying visitors to and fro. These well-cladded elephants make a joyride to Amber fort and in
turn makes your travel to Amber fort a fascinating
experience. This something which cannot afford to miss
in any Rajasthan itinerary. Just 11km from Jaipur, Amber
fort is a splendid fort constructed in a scenic locale.
Being a perfect blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture,
Jaipur attracts traveller from around the globe. Built
in 16th century by Raja Man Singh, the fort stands as a
proud reminder of the exotic building skills of the
artisans of the yesteryears. This fort from yore day
unfurls the legacies of the time when the August rulers
imagined the unmatched craftsmanship.
Overnight: Standard Room at Narain Niwas Palace or
similar. |
Day 03: Jaipur -
Jodhpur
(Breakfast,
Lunch
OR Dinner)
Drive to
Jodhpur and check in to hotel, followed by visit to
Meherangarh Fort.
Meherangarh Fort -
Earlier called the
Chintamani fort, the fort was built in 1959 by Rao Jodha,
the founder of Jodhpur on the summit of a steep hill
called the Bakharchiriya or bird's nest. The citadel was
fortified by eight Pol or gates (now reduced to seven)
regulating entry into the premises. The expansive
ramparts of the castle span some 10km, and if you stand
atop the fort, you do get a bird's eye view of the city
with its whitewashed homes. Bakharchiriya was an apt
name for the hilltop on which the fort now sits, is
perched on top of
Meherangarh
and from there you get a commanding view of the
landscape.
Overnight: Standard Room at Ajit Bhawan Palace or
similar. |
Day 04:
Jodhpur
(Breakfast,
Lunch
OR Dinner)
Visit Jaswant Thada & the Bazaars.
Jaswant Thada - The
graceful marble cenotaph of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.
His son
Maharaja
Sardar Singhji built the Taj Mahal of Marwar in the
memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II of Jodhpur. The main
memorial has been built like a temple with intricately
carved marble stone that is sculpted by the genius
artesian. A visit to this structure is through the rocky
hills giving it a secluded and a mystic aura.
Overnight: Standard Room at Ajit Bhawan
Palace or similar. |
Day 05:
Jodhpur
-
Udaipur
(Breakfast)

Day 06:
Udaipur
(Breakfast,
Lunch
OR Dinner)
Full day tour of City Palace, Sahelion Ki
Bari, Eklingi & Nadga.
City Palace -
Maharana Udai Singh established his new capital, Udipur
in 1559 when he built the small City Palace on an
overlooking ridge. Other buildings and structures soon
mushroomed around the palace. Successive maharans added
to the marble and granite palace of Udai Singh, and the
city palace spread itself allowing an architectural and
artistic evolution of Mewar through the centuries. The
palace is flanked by octagonal corner towers surmounted
by cupolas and thus is a fine blend of Rajput and
Mughal style of architeture.
Sahelion Ki
Bari lies just beneath the Fateh Sagar Lake.
Maharana Sangram Singh II designed this garden in the
early 18th century purely as a pleasure garden and a
summer palace for 48 young maids that formed a part of
the prince's dowry. It is also say that the garden was
presented as a peace offering from the emperor of Delhi.
Inside the garden is a reservoir surrounded by four
black marbled cenotaphs in its four corner and one white
marbled one in the centre. the terraces of these
cenotaph have water fountains shaped like birds from
whose beaks water gushes out in thin sprays like the
singing rain - producing a wonderful sight. The
Maharanas entertained themselves around the four
ornamental polls and five fountains. These fountains
were imported from England in 1889. Maharana Bhopal
Singh specially was fond of this place and built a rain
fountain, so that it looked like rain dancing on the
dancing maids.
Overnight: Standard Room at Hotel Udai Kothi or similar. |
